Potsdam, NY – On February 23, 2018, Amy Cutler and Lindsay LaSala delivered the 2000th copy of "Wherever You Are My Love Will Find You" to the Birthplace at Canton-Potsdam Hospital as part of the Gina's Gift Memorial Fund Project.

In 2013, four friends and patients of CPH Obstetrician Dr. Jose L. Lizardi, Amy Cutler, Kelly D'Amour, Jennifer Grey, and Lindsay LaSala, came together to create a special project in memory of his wife, Gina, who passed away in 2012 from complications of diabetes. The "Gina's Gift Memorial Fund" collects donations to purchase a copy of the book "Wherever You Are My Love Will Find You," by Nancy Tillman for every baby born at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Approximately 500 babies are born each year at CPH.

"Each year and every day, our children at home and in school demonstrate the value of early literacy efforts. They read, they are proud of their reading and best of all, they learn," according to Amy Cutler.

"As more and more research proves that early literacy efforts have a powerful payoff, our goals now concentrate on how to emphasize ways to put books into the hands of our young readers. In conjunction with the Sheard Literacy Center, Gina's Gift hosts a Scholastic Book Fair during the Potsdam Summer Festival as one way to keep books in the forefront during summer vacation days," said Lindsay LaSala, "We remember Gina's evolving collection of children's and young adult books and her practice of giving books away when she and her family were ready to move on to others. Giving books, reading them aloud and providing a source for books are ways of nurturing a love for reading from a child's earliest days and throughout the years. These are gifts we all can share with our children and our students," continued Ms. LaSala.

St. Lawrence University Bookstore has partnered with Gina's Gift to provide the books at a discount. Those wishing to donate should make checks payable to "Gina's Gift" and mail to P.O. Box 464, Potsdam, NY, 13676. More information is available on Facebook at, or by emailing
