CPH Hosts Public Health Department Discussion on Zika Virus, June 7, 2017

Potsdam, NY – On June 7, 2017, Canton-Potsdam Hospital hosted a presentation by Rebecca Allen, of the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department, entitled "Zika Virus – What You Must Know," in conjunction with the St. Lawrence County Chapter of AARP. Twenty-eight community members attended, and learned about the effects of Zika virus, who is at risk, and what can be done to prevent possible infection.

"The Zika virus is primarily transmitted by a particular type of mosquito, and is an area of concern for people or their partners travelling to particular areas in the world, and especially for high-risk pregnant women," said Rebecca Allen, Coordinator, SLC Public Health Department. For more information on the Zika virus, interested individuals may visit www.health.ny.gov/diseases/zika_virus/.
