Robin Brickey is CPH’s licensed social worker. Prior to working at CPH, Robin worked with the Cerebral Palsy Association of the North Country, Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence County, and at Staten Island University Hospital in New York City. She received her masters’ degree from the University of Albany and holds a BS in Social Work from SUNY Buffalo.
Dr. Jay Dewell
Dr. Dewell is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in breast cancer surgery. Dr. Dewell completed his residency at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut. He holds an MD from Albany Medical College, a BS in Biology from Union College, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Luke Freel provides speech-language pathology services to patients at the Center for Cancer Care and at CPH. He also works with United Helpers and Northern Lights Home Health Care. Luke received his MS in Speech-Language Pathology from Northwestern University. He holds a B.Sc. in Psychology and Linguistics from the University of Toronto.
Ryan Garfield is an oncology specialist physician assistant and works closely with Center for Cancer Care’s team of oncologists. He received his physician assistant degree from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. Prior to pursuing PA studies, Mr. Garfield was a certified operating room technician and nurse aide with the Intermountain Healthcare network. He is board certified by the National Center for Certification in Physician Assistant, and is BLS and ACLS-certified.
Dr. David Hauerstock
Dr. Hauerstock received his medical degree and completed his radiation oncology residency at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Dr. Hauerstock is certified by the American Board of Radiation Biology and Physics and the American Board of Radiology in Clinical Oncology. He completed a fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center, in New York, NY and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
Dr. Michael Maresca
Dr. Maresca chairs CPH’s imaging department and has spent his career expanding the imaging services available in northern New York. Dr. Maresca completed his residency at SUNY Medical Center in Syracuse. He holds an MD from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and a BA from West Virginia University. Dr. Maresca is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and completed a fellowship in angiography and interventional radiology at the Health Science Center in Syracuse.
Lauren Smith is a registered dietician who assists cancer patients with nutrition management during treatment. She holds a B.S. in nutrition from SUNY Plattsburgh, and a Master’s certificate in dietetics from the School of Health Sciences at the Sage Colleges, Troy, NY. Prior to coming to CPH, she was the nutrition program manager for the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Health Services.
Dr. Spurgeon Smith
Dr. Spurgeon Smith oversees the pathology labs for Canton Potsdam Hospital and Massena Memorial Hospital together with his colleague Dr. Philip Bridgeman. Dr. Smith received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
Ryan Titus manages the Center for Cancer Care’s on-site pharmacy. He is a board certified oncology pharmacist. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and his University Teaching Certificate from Johns Hopkins University. In addition to his work at the Center for Cancer Care, Ryan teaches pharmacy classes at the Albany College of Pharmacy Health Sciences and at Clarkson University.
Oncology Clinical Nurse Manager
Prior to leading the Center for Cancer Care's nursing staff, Lisa worked for the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe's Health Services. She served as an oncology research nurse at the Sarah Cannon Research Institute in Nashville, Tennessee and has over 10 years of experience as an oncology-certified nurse. She is a graduate of St. Elizabeth College of Nursing in Utica, NY.
