St. Lawrence County will experience a partial solar eclipse this afternoon between 1:30 and 3:50 pm, with peak eclipse at approximately 2:35 pm. Unless you have a pair of eclipse glasses or viewers approved by the AAS (American Astronomical Society) there is no safe way to look at the eclipsed sun. Permanent damage to your eyes can result. Please ensure that your pets do not look up at the sun's unexpected darkness, as it can cause eye damage to them as well. For more information on eclipses, check out https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/safety. For more information on today's eclipse in St. Lawrence County visit http://bit.ly/2uYl0zA

A total solar eclipse is happening on Monday, August 21, and even though St. Lawrence County is not in the direct path of the full eclipse, it will still be pretty impressive. Learn about eclipses, and how to safely "see" one, at https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/safety
