Tulip, Guyette, Simzer Named CPH Employees of the Quarter
Canton-Potsdam Hospital (CPH) employees selected Amy Tulip, Coder/Abstractor; Nancy Guyette, Certified Pharmacy Technician; and Terri Simzer, Interim Director of Physical Rehabilitation as Employees of the Quarter. The three were honored by David Acker, President and CEO, and numerous coworkers and managers during a ceremony in the CPH Conference Rooms on December 19th.
Amy Tulip joined CPH as a Coder/Abstractor in November of 2011. According to her supervisor, since her hire, she has embraced opportunities to grow and take on additional responsibilities. Her colleagues consider her an inspiration and a team player who has a natural personality for engaging, encouraging, and supporting others.
"Amy is enormously dedicated to the field of coding," said Sherry English, Interim Director of Health Information Management. "In addition to her holding a certification for professional coders, Amy just recently earned her hematology and oncology coding certification. At present Amy is joined by several others in the field working to achieve certified coding specialist status. I am very proud to have her as member of our team," added English.
Nancy Guyette joined CPH as a Nurse Aide in August of 2003. While working closely with members of other departments, she developed an interest in medication treatments. After completing comprehensive training and shadowing, Guyette accepted a position as Pharmacy Technician in 2007.
"Nancy has worked tirelessly over the past year throughout implementation of our Meditech 6.0 software. She has exceptional attention to detail and has assumed the lead role in trouble-shooting and resolving areas susceptible to error," said Jennifer Nye, Director of Pharmacy. "Working closely with nursing, respiratory, oncology, emergency medicine, lab, imaging, case management, diabetes education, dietary, patient financial services, patient access, infection prevention, information systems, medical records, and surgical services, Nancy has earned the respect of staff and providers alike," added Nye.
Terri Simzer joined CPH in March of 2001 as a Certified Physical Therapist, served as the Associate Director in 2009, Supervisor in 2012, and most recently accepted the position of Interim Director of Physical Rehabilitation. In her new role, Simzer oversees all three off-campus centers in Brasher, Canton, and Potsdam as well as inpatient rehabilitation on the Hospital's main campus. In addition to her responsibilities at the Hospital, Terri continues to serve as a Hospital representative on the Canton Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors.
"Terri's commitment to her patients, staff, and colleagues is beyond comparison," said Deanna Page, Vice President of Clinical Services. "She respects and upholds the values of the Hospital, maintains patient safety as a priority, and embraces implementation of new programs and technology," continued Page.
Tulip, Guyette, and Simzer were joined in celebration by colleagues and peers. Awardees were given a bouquet of flowers, chamber gift certificates, CPH gift shop gift certificates, a special pin, and a designated parking space for the next three months.
