Hospital Provides CPR Training at Clarkson Hockey Game
During the December 15, 2012 Clarkson vs. Mercyhurst hockey game, CPR instructors will offer basic CPR training. Four instructors will be setup in the Kodak Lounge of the Cheel Center where visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a complimentary basic CPR course where they can earn a CPR card and a free 50/50 ticket toward that evening's hockey game raffle.
"The fundamentals of CPR can be learned in minutes and offers the unending potential to save lives. Even long after certification expires, the basics remain ingrained and not surprisingly resurface during fight-or-flight situations later in life," said Arthur Siebert, Canton-Potsdam Hospital/American Heart Association Training Center Coordinator.
Among those providing instruction that evening are American Heart Association Certified Instructors Susan Knowles, Nurse Practitioner at Clarkson University Health Center; Dennis Maid, Director of Respiratory Therapy at Canton-Potsdam Hospital; Beth Sevey, Licensed Massage Therapist; and Ann Smith, Business Development Manager of LifeNet, New York.
Interested community members can visit the Kodak Lounge. No RSVPs are necessary. Instructors will be available until the onset of the third period. To learn more about CPR instruction and how to participate in the event on December 15, community members should contact Arthur Siebert at (315) 261-5010.
