Hospitalist Program (Inpatient Medicine)

As part of its continuing quest to be an innovator in health care in the region, Canton-Potsdam Hospital has implemented its own hospitalist program. A Hospitalist is a doctor whose professional focus is the medical care of hospitalized patients.

Private practice physicians use hospitalists to care for their patients when they visit the hospital's emergency rooms, or are admitted to the hospital. A Hospitalist is in constant communication with the patient's primary physician, but handles the patient's care during the time spent in the hospital.
