All of these organizations were included in Mary Elizabeth Stowell's will. Mary was born in Lisbon in 1914, and graduated from both St. Lawrence University and Potsdam Normal School. She taught art, Latin, and "just about every other subject" in several small country schools in our area. Mrs. Stowell traveled widely in her lifetime, but chose to focus her philanthropy here at home. Her thoughtful planning is now making a difference for 14 local organizations.
