Hall Named to Task Force

Fran Hall, RN, Assistant Vice President for Patient Care Services at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, has been named to the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center Magnet Conference CE Task Force. As a member of the Task Force, Ms. Hall will review and score submissions for podium and poster presentations for the upcoming ANCC Magnet Recognition Program Conference, October 13 – 15 in Phoenix, AZ.

The ANCC is the largest credentialing organization for the nursing profession, and is a subsidiary of the American Nurses’ Association. ANCC administers the national Magnet Recognition Program and annual conference, which are designed to recognize health care organizations that provide nursing excellence. The program also provides a forum for sharing nursing best practices and strategies. Magnet recognition is based on rigorous quality indicators and standards for nursing practice. The Magnet designation process includes evaluation of qualitative factors which were first identified through research in 1983. These qualitative standards encompass nursing professionalism, ethics, and leadership for continuous improvement of skills and competencies.

The Magnet Recognition Conference allows participants to explore nursing excellence in clinical practice, leadership, and research through pre-conference seminars, concurrent sessions, posters, art, film, exhibits, and networking with other nursing professionals. The conference also offers nursing professionals the opportunity to explore career development in specialized areas of nursing practice, such as nursing administration, education, and nursing in specific care settings. The conference includes a research symposium which focuses this year on the economics of the health care system from a nursing perspective.
