Parking Services
Canton-Potsdam Hospital maintains spaces for patients and visitors as close to Hospital buildings as possible. Spaces for persons with disabilities are also available. Valet parking is available from 6 am to 4 pm. Valet parking is provided free-of-charge and valets will not accept tips.
Sharps Disposal Program Many community residents have medical conditions that require self-injections at home. Sharps (needles, syringes, and lancets) should be disposed of properly in order to minimize risks to waste disposal workers and others of puncture and infection. Canton-Potsdam Hospital is helping to protect the community by providing free disposal services for sharps.
First, place your sharps in approved containers. An approved container is made of leakproof, rigid, and puncture-proof plastic. Containers must be marked with the words "Biohazard" or "Contains Needles." You must also label the container with your name and address. You may purchase approved containers from local pharmacies or medical supply stores. Other approved containers are clean liquid laundry or fabric softener bottles. Plastic milk jugs, milk cartons, and plastic soda bottles or coffee cans are NOT acceptable. The container must also be clean and securely closed.
Second, bring your full, securely closed container to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Environmental Services Department Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Containers will be accepted ONLY during these hours.
If you have questions about this program, contact the Environmental Services Department at (315) 261-5340.
Smoking Policy
Canton-Potsdam Hospital is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment. Smoking has been determined by the Surgeon General to be the number one avoidable cause of death in the United States. Second-hand smoke has also proved to be a major health hazard. Effective July 1, 2008, CPH has become a Tobacco Free facility. Smoking is not permitted in or an any Hospital Property, including in vehicles within the parking lots.
Visiting Hours
Patients need plenty of rest and quiet in order to get well. Visitors should first check with the nurses’ station to see if a patient is accepting visitors. For the comfort and wellbeing of patients and room-mates, caregivers may limit the number of visitors permitted in a patient room. Children must be under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times. Visits are encouraged between the hours of 10 am and 9 pm.
