About Our Services: Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s Preoperative Care Services consists of the Operating Room, Sterile Processing, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Our staff includes RNs, Scrub Technicians, Anesthesia Technicians, and Certified Sterile Processing Technicians.
The Operating Room consists of five suites, which were completely remodeled and updated in 2004. The OR provides the following: ENT, urology, general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, OB/GYN, pulmonology, vascular surgery, and neurosurgery. In 2004, there were 3,628 cases performed in the OR.
The Post-Anasthesia Care Unit (PACU) is staffed with an ACLS-certified RN at all times, and the ratio of patients to RN is 2:1. There are 4 units and one isolation room in the PACU.
All staff in the Preoperative Care Services unit are BLS-certified and all the RNs are ACLS-certified. The Preoperative Care Services unit strives to provide confidential, caring, and the most advanced surgical services available in the North Country.
